With the hotter summer months getting closer and closer, many have a question as to how long to run their filter pump every day.  I recommend setting your pool time clock to run at least 8 hours a day once temperatures reach 90 degrees through the end of September.  The time to run the filter pump is typically 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or maybe 9 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.  That way, the pool is circulating through the hottest hours of the day and will have uniform chlorine levels throughout the pool, because what happens is if the pool pump is not running and the water is just sitting, the sun will burn off the chlorine in the top of the water.  So one has little to no chlorine in the first foot or two of the water and higher levels the deeper the water level is.
